Through the Mountains. Day 13.

May 31, 2016

Some pictures of this mornings hike to O Cebreiro.

Then down and back up to Alto Do Poio.

It was about 9 degrees this morning (48 F) but had warmed up nicely. We are in Triacastela. Joyce is enjoying her tub.

Progress report: we have completed 270 km with 133 to go (167 - 83 miles) We have 5 days/stages in the guidebook but we want to take 6 days and get there afternoon of June 6. The 1st 3 stages we have completed as scheduled as described including today's difficult day.

There is an 18.5 day and a 20.5 mile day which we will try to shorten. The problem comes in with the huge amount of people beginning in Sarria to complete the minimum 100k for the Compostela. We're told we need to start booking reservation sin advance. Difficulty comes with trying to shorten days and finding lodging in intermediate towns. We will work it out.

With only 83 miles left, we should just send our bags ahead to Santiago and run it in. Would only take one day then.

Some more pics from entering Galicia province (originally Celts) from Linares to aqui.

For Scott, you can work out oafter losing all that weight doing cardio everyday.
Yeah, we will get about 260 miles in and get our Campostella. The flight gives us a day in Dublin and get us home after about 25 days away. Next year we will go to Dover air base and try a military hop vacation. We will DRIVE wherever we want to go on that trip.
My first octopus. A specialty of Galicia.
We started off our meal with a grande cerveza then you get either vino or agua with your meal. So mom drinks 3/4 of her beer and they bring her a whole bottle of vino blanco. She drank 3/4 of that before I grabbed some. She is laughing a lot.

Joyce got maccarones in tomato sauce, lamb, bread, ice cream and a full bottle of wine for 10 EU!

I don't know how Spain fits in their time zone but it is 10:00 here and still light out. Sunrise is about 6:30.
