Made it to Casa Carmen outside of
Barbadelo about 5k past Sarria and the new peregrinos.
Was lucky we had a reservation, when they speak Galician which seems to mostly uses the letters x, u, & n, it's hard to communicate yo nombre. We agreed that Fris was good enough to get a room.

Break time somewhere. Huevos, French fries, pork chop, and salad. Not exactly breakfast.

Leaving
Sarria. Pilgrims originally left their home to go to Santiago so the pilgrimage was a lot shorter for some than others. The Portugal route is daily short. We met a couple with a child who left their house near Belgium. The way from St Jean is a popular route since it starts for one day in France. Maybe 15% start there.
Another 20% start in Roncevailles just into Spain because they want no part of the Pyrenees. Some people who have two weeks vacation start in Ponferrada since it 210 km and can be walked in that time.
Along the way different routes converge like tribs to a river. People who only have one week vacation, or just want to do the minimum 100km to receive the Compostela, start in the town of Sarria and the numbers swell. We walked through that town to and past a town to the Casa Carmen which is not close to anything. There is a restaurant here but if we want something else, it is a 700 meter back to town. Not happening. From here on in we will be staying in smaller towns and calling ahead to avoid the main group.

Old casa had settled a bit
Joyce: That door is to our double room. Floor is slanted a bit. Dawn, where have I seen this before?

Walked up these steps to come back down a very steep street. How cruel.
Joyce: My feet are traumatized by the end of our day. Shower is pure bliss. We have a communal supper for the first time at 7:00 PM. Should be fun. I promise to drink only one glass of wine.
Score sheet: We have 184.5 miles in, 68.8 miles to go. Joyce is getting stronger and blisters and soreness overcome. I think we will make it easily. (297.6km - 111km). Tomorrow we will pass the 100km to go, no new pilgrims. I suggested we just send our packs to Santiago and just run in. We are not doing that.
In the Casa de Carmen, besides the dips in all the floors, the lights dim every time they use an appliance in the kitchen. Kyle just be thankful you don't have to fix up this place.

View from Casa de Carmen.
We are sitting in the sun on dos persona lawn chair made of dos pallets. Quite uncomfortable but it is in the sun and it is cold in the shade. I think today it warmed up to 16 degrees, no clouds in the sky with bright sun (61F).

We had dinner with a couple (sort of) from England, then mom left leaving me with the English guy. Then an Irish couple showed up for vino, then the Spanish group gave us some Spanish moonshine (re-distilled grape wine) and left. Then we discussed Dublin and Trump. Didn't need any additional wine since they had half filled bottles left on every table and they kept opening more. Said goodnight, see you on the Way. 10 Eu. Mom still awake but need to get some sleep for 16 miles tomorrow.
